After Five: The Grasshopper

grasshopperdrinkI’ll be honest, I’ve never been a big fan of mixing dairy and alcohol together. I don’t blame the amateur and professional bar tenders who have mixed me dairy drinks, I blame myself for a lack of imagination. Because really, when I think of dairy and booze, I immediately think of White Russians and Bailey’s and not much else. I’ve never particularly enjoyed either of those drinks.

But last night I had the chance to try a Grasshopper. Using cream and shaken, the drink was frothy and light. The creme de menthe and creme de cacao gave the drink a wonderfully minty chocolaty flavor. It was like fine liquid candy. Try it if you ever get the chance.

3/4 oz green creme de menthe
3/4 oz white creme de cacao
3/4 oz light cream
Shake all ingredients with ice, strain into a cocktail glass, and serve.
